چکیده

M e t h o d s Data sources: MEDLINE and lists of conference abstracts from the European Society of Cardiology, American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, and Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (to January 2006). Study selection and assessment: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that compared DESs with BMSs. 25 RCTs (n = 9791, mean age range 59 to 67 y) met the selection criteria. The DESs evaluated contained sirolimus (11 RCTs), paclitaxel (7 RCTs), tacrolimus (2 RCTs), zotarolimus (1 RCT), everolimus (3 RCTs), and biolimus (1 RCT). Outcomes: Acute MI (new increase in serum creatine kinase level ≥ 2 times the upper limit of normal reference range, concomitant increase in MB fraction of enzyme, and periprocedural infarction), Q-wave MI, and non–Q-wave MI.

Are drug-eluting stents cost-effective? It depends on whom you ask.

Since their commercial introduction in 2003, drugeluting stents (DES) have rapidly altered the management of coronary artery disease. Before their development, the percutaneous management of coronary artery disease was performed predominantly by implantation of bare metal stents (BMS) made of either surgical stainless steel or metal alloys. Although such stents represented a considerable advanc...

Stent Thrombosis in Sweden

Background—The objective was to evaluate the role of risk factors and stent type for stent thrombosis (ST) using a large real world registry. Methods and Results—We evaluated all consecutive coronary stent implantations in Sweden from May 1, 2005, to June 30, 2007. All cases of ST, documented in the Swedish coronary angiography and angioplasty registry until September 21, 2008, were analyzed. S...

A Case of Stent Thrombosis Occurred at 5 Years after Sirolimus-Eluting Stent Implantation

Drug-eluting stents (DES) have reduced the rate of repeated revascularization of target lesions. For this reason, DES are considered to be superior to bare-metal stents in reducing the restenosis rate. However, some problems have been reported after implantation of DES. One of them, stent thrombosis, has arisen as a fatal complication. Dual antiplatelet therapy is recommended for at least 12 mo...

Clinical outcomes of drug-eluting stents compared with bare metal stents in our routine clinical practice.

INTRODUCTION This study was designed to characterize patients treated with drug-eluting stents (DES) versus those treated with bare metal stents (BMS) and to investigate their clinical outcomes in our routine clinical practice. METHODS We studied a consecutive series of 1796 patients, selected from a computerized registry, who underwent stenting for coronary artery lesions either with BMS (15...
